·        More in boys

·        Very strong genetic contribution to its occurrence.

§  Not seem to listen when spoken to

§  Have difficulty doing quiet tasks or activities

§  Be constantly in motion

§  Have trouble sitting still during dinner, school, doing homework, and story time

§  Talk nonstop

Role of teacher (ADHD)

§  Provide special classroom seating arrangement

§  (near the teacher, near a student role model)

§  Make brief lesson

§  Give small assignments

§  Use direct instruction, programmed learning

§  Use multi-sensory approach

§  Provide extended time for exams

§  Connect learning to real life experience
